Dodge Durango 2024: SRT Hellcat Version Makes a Comeback!

Earlier this week, Dodge announced the return of the SRT Hellcat version for the 2024 Durango. The news is surprising, especially with the departure of the Charger and Challenger after 2023. Perhaps that\’s what allowed the American manufacturer to keep the ultimate version of its SUV in the market. In reality, the Durango SRT Hellcat is very popular and sells very well, so it\’s far from a bad thing that it\’s still available for 2024.

There haven\’t been significant mechanical changes. The American manufacturer\’s SUV is still powered by the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. This engine allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h, which is very fast for a vehicle of its size.

As for the rest of the 2024 Durango lineup, there are very few improvements. The driving assistance technologies have been slightly refined, and the Tow N Go package is now available for the Citadel version.

It\’s worth remembering that Dodge had initially announced that the Durango SRT Hellcat would only be produced for the first half of 2022, which had the effect of driving up the model\’s price in the used vehicle market. Needless to say, buyers were furious to learn that the manufacturer would extend production for an additional six months, as well as for the 2023 model year. I can hardly imagine what they will think about the return of the Hellcat version for 2024.

What you need to understand is that the initially announced low production for the model was not planned by the American manufacturer. It was more of a constraint that prevented Dodge from producing the Durango SRT Hellcat beyond that period. Since then, the manufacturer has found a way to make its big performance SUV comply with environmental standards, which is why it is still part of the lineup. Of course, not everyone will be pleased, but those who dreamt of the Durango SRT Hellcat and couldn\’t get their hands on one until now will certainly be delighted. However, one must still have the means, as the model\’s price is likely to increase, considering it was already priced at $129,390 for the 2023 model year.
